Raising a Reader’s Family Shared Reading Program (FSRP) is an award-winning program designed to help families build home libraries and create meaningful home-school connections, while supporting early literacy and reading readiness.
Family Shared Reading Program supports shared family reading habits by providing families with diverse, bilingual children’s books and a bilingual family guide with 12 weekly themes that maximize shared reading time together with children with strategies to maximize shared reading time together with children.
FSRP is a fun way to strengthen parent/child relationships while developing the reading and social-emotional skills needed for school success.
This program is designed for children ages 3-PreK/TK and School Age and complements our Classic Programs and can also be implemented as a stand-alone.
Families are provided with multicultural, bilingual children’s books which they read together in an ongoing shared reading routine. The included Bilingual Family Guide contains strategies that families can use to get the most out of shared reading time together. Each strategy can be practiced for a few minutes a day with the books provided in the program.
The supportive community of practice provides training, coaching, peer learning, and professional development.
The program also provides turnkey materials that are easily incorporated into early literacy curricula.
With more than 3,000 implementation sites across the country, we reach over 150,000 children and their families through 286 Affiliate and program partners across the US—every year!
