Celebrate 25 Years of Raising Readers!

When you give to our ’25 for 25′ campaign, you’re not just supporting books—you’re supporting lifelong learning, family connections, and opportunities for children to thrive. Let’s continue building a nation of readers together.

Thank you for your support and your partnership!

Your support allows us to continue expanding our programs and reaching more children across the US.

“This past year, one of our students began living with their grandmother. Their mother passed away last year from cancer, and their father became unable to provide a stable home and proper environment for the student. The grandmother repeatedly discussed how important the red bag program became for her grandchild during the times of transition, and how she looked forward to spending time reading with him each night. Eventually, he began to ask for her to read to him well before bedtime, and it served as a bonding experience for them during an important time in both of their lives.”

“We absolutely love the Red Book Bags! My child and I read the books over and over before the bags are swapped out. Raising a Reader is such a valuable program, especially during tough times when many parents struggle to access new books. The variety of stories has given my child a chance to learn and explore new ideas. We’re so grateful for this program, and it’s made a real difference for us.”

As we celebrate our 25-year legacy, we’re also looking to the future with bold new initiatives that will bring the gift of reading to more families. Here’s how we’re innovating:

  • Expanding Diversity: Curating books that reflect the diverse communities we serve, including stories for Farsi-speaking, LGBTQ+, Native and other underrepresented voices.
  • Innovative Programming: Integrating technology and bilingual resources in our Red Classic Book Bag and Home Library Programs to meet families where they are.
  • Reaching New Communities: Partnering nationwide to bring Raising a Reader’s programs to underserved rural, suburban and urban areas.
